I mean yea, the main problem with putting our industrial rival in the drivers seat of all emerging energy and EV production is that Americans won’t even get to benefit! Not only will we become a technological backwater, but I can’t even buy a Chinese EV! Worst of both worlds.

100%, my pet theory is urbanization and people having to move far from family to take jobs actually has a bigger impact. We moved from DC back to Portland JUST because it allowed just to regularly drop kids off at grandparents. Took a 15% haircut on salary but still was worth it.
