If data exists, it can be determined. If it can be determined, then it can be calculated by an advanced enough computer. I feel like you are thinking in a very narrow, modern-day only type of reasoning here.

Dude, you are making my point for me. Advanced computers will one day be able to calculate all of that in the blink of an eye. Believe me.

40 years ago, none of us ever dreamt of the powerful computer that we all carry around in our pockets every day today. 40 years from now... who knows?

Despite this, I still doubt that artificially controlled time travel will ever be possible.

And I'll say again, this discussion didn't need to get so detailed and scientific. It's just a fun movie, man. Relax and enjoy the entertainment. 😁

Sure, by today's standards. But if science & technology ever become advanced enough to invent time travel, it will only be because they've become advanced enough to understand all the things you mention. With AI advancing exponentially, by 2030 things will be possible that we can't imagine today.

And also, as I posted in another comment somewhere on this thread, this is all completely theoretically anyway, for the purpose of discussing a light-hearted sci-fi comedy movie from the 80s. Truth is, time travel will probably never be invented anyway.

And again, there's no reason why you couldn't program any computer that's sophisticated enough to make time travel calculations with all of that data so that it can be accounted for when traveling in time, and simply make the needed movement in space simultaneously. Teleportation, undoubtedly.

I'm not an astrophysicist, but I know that there are several current theories, including string theory, that support the idea that time and space are, if not one thing, at least unified enough that they have direct effect on one another.
