yessss i love thinking about this shit. my idea for a solution was basically just like a bag or a sleeve on the back of a belt that you’d have to tuck your tail into. hard hats would get complicated too if you have big ears or you’re a species w a particularly flat head or smth

it would not be surprising if measures for certain species had to be legally required to tie, wrap, or tuck their tails close to their body so as to not let it get caught on a pinch point

if getting your tail crushed by a 40lb box sucks, imagine getting pulled tail-first into a machine
