sorry for the bajillion replies i just firmly disagree and am also living in a country where we Tried Doing That and all it did was harm queers and sex workers, and we're only a week into its existence

if places have a duty of care to not allow kids access to content they shouldn't, then that is inevitably going to mean extra age checks and/or sites banning adult stuff.

whole thing with this is it's yet another fucking bill that is basically doing parents' jobs for them. which is bad

like. do you see the point. these can so easily be spun from "protecting kids" to "censoring everything we don't like". we have continuously seen this over the past however many years. most recently with the UK's dogshit bill and the like. itch/steam censorship stuff

the uk's recent censorship bill has already led to shit tons of lgbtq resources being labelled as nsfw even if it isn't, and then accounts being unable to access said content if they don't provide photo id. this was despite them saying it was for kids' safety and not for erasure

considering how often the lgbtq community is labelled as like. exploiting kids. indoctrinating them into big woke or whatever the fuck.

it is just too vague and also supported by like. the heritage foundation. i think it is entirely understandable for people to be distrustful of it
