From Slackware in the '90s to a decade on Arch, my Linux journey has been a long one.

For a current project, I'm diving into FreeBSD and I'm genuinely impressed. 🤯 It feels different, in a good way.

I might actually completely switch.

Anyone else made the jump from Linux to FreeBSD? Tips welcome!

Lovely Sunday in one of the most beautiful and authentic villages in Cyprus: Pano Lefkara.

First an amazing brunch at and then a nice long walk through the village. #DiscoverLefkara

Happy 65th Independence Day Cyprus!

As a Dutch native, I feel honoured to call this resilient island my home as it marks this historic milestone.

Wishing everyone a great celebration.

Very interesting article for anyone interested in the use of AI in education.

IMO domain-specific AI models instead of generic trained ones are essential to address many of the challenges mentioned and to effectively address concerns like feedback, bias, context, etc.

What's your opinion?

Decentralized education is what got me passionate about Web3. Agentic AI was the missing link to make it truly decentralized.

So it should surprise no one that when I started @synthonyx.com, #EdTech became a core mission.
Centralized education was built for scale - not people.
It assumes every learner is the same.

It locks knowledge behind bias, paywalls, certificates, and exorbitant tuition fees.

It extracts data — but offers no ownership

One year in #Cyprus already!
When I arrived, the plan was: one year by the coast, one year in the mountains — then decide where to settle.

Tomorrow, I make the move to the mountains.

Hello fellow language learners! Let’s talk about how you learn languages.

I’ve lived in five different countries and always learned the local language. Now I’m learning Greek.

But I’ve never been a fan of the CEFR system (A1–C2) for learning languages. 🧵

Interesting to hear Musk talk about a US–EU free trade zone. That was actually the goal of TTIP, which aimed for zero tariffs and better regulatory alignment.

But the first Trump administration shelved it—Trump preferred one-on-one trade deals.

Funny how we’re back at the same idea full circle.
Elon Musk has called on the US and Europe to create a “zero-tariff” system and form a “free trade zone,” amid global backlash to Trump’s new import levies.

The tech billionaire says barriers must fall to boost innovation and prosperity.

Tokenomics is the economic layer — incentives, supply, utility.
Token Engineering is the discipline behind it — modeling, simulating, pressure-testing the whole system.

It’s also not just tech.
It’s applied complexity science.

Real builders don’t just design tokens — they engineer economies.
April 2, 2025 at 7:23 AM
Most founders still treat tokenomics like marketing — Make it sound good, pump the hype, and hope no one asks hard questions.

But if you're building real utility… You need an economy, not a collectible.

Most early-stage founders don’t need a full-time CTO.

They need a co-decider who understands tech.
They need CTO-as-a-Service.

Here’s when it makes sense — and how it prevents €100K+ mistakes 🧵

If your product doesn’t have users, it’s probably not a marketing issue, but a UX issue.

→ UX drives adoption
→ Adoption builds retention

Most techies (myself included) suck at UX.
But that’s no excuse to ignore it.

Bring in someone who gets it.
UX isn’t polish — it’s survival.

COBOL isn’t killing innovation.
You just don’t understand what it is.

Not a legacy GPL — but a rock-solid DSL for business, still running the core of banks, insurance, and governments.

Mainframes aren’t dying, but evolving. And rewriting #COBOL “for innovation” is how real tech debt gets born.
March 31, 2025 at 2:08 PM
Most Web3 “startups” are just marketing wrappers for a token.
No product. No model. No plan past exit liquidity.

A real Web3 business has:
– a product people use
– revenue without dumping
– long-term alignment between team, token, and users

If that’s what you’re building, we’ll get along fine.

I’m generally anti-regulation.

But working with regulators still beats yelling from the sidelines.

Looking back at @trrue.bsky.social's participation in the EU Blockchain Sandbox — and why more founders should do the same 🧵
March 31, 2025 at 8:42 AM
I started coding in BASIC. Played with Pascal and C in school. Wrote COBOL in my first job. Built early Web 2.0 in PHP. Switched to Python when backends got serious. Picked up Go when the cloud made efficiency matter. Now it’s Rust for blockchain.

Tech evolves and so should devs.

Don’t pick a tech stack.
Pick your exit strategy.

The stack comes after the strategy.
But most founders do it backwards.

Here’s how to avoid that mistake 🧵

Why I chose Cyprus again — and what changed since 2014

Back then, I was in corporate services.
Now I’m in tech.

And yet… I still chose the same island.

Here’s why — and what’s different this time 🧵

No-code. AI builders. GPT-powered MVPs.
Founders have more tools than ever.

So why do most still fail?
Because tools ≠ product.

And AI can’t save you from a lack of clarity. 🧵

Forget stealth mode.
Forget 6-month roadmaps.
Forget waiting for perfect.

Release early.
Test fast.
Talk to real people.

If you're not learning in public, you're just guessing in private. 🧵
March 27, 2025 at 11:26 AM
A #CTO doesn’t write the best code.

They set the best direction.

That’s the job — and most devs-turned-CTOs learn it the hard way 🧵
March 27, 2025 at 6:28 AM
Cyprus is known for low taxes and great vacations.

But if that’s all you think it offers tech founders — you're missing the bigger picture.

Cyprus is quietly building one of Europe’s most overlooked innovation hubs.

Let’s break it down 🧵
