Thinking a parrot is useless is midwit. It’s an alien dinosaur that answers any question you ask it w/ mocking repetition of sounds it has heard that are modestly coherent to proficient. If you haven’t bothered talking to parrots to derive some utility out of their garbled mirroring you’re just lazy

The XKCD strip she references makes the point that these are all just moral panics. The thing is though, TV in the 1960s DID play a large part in the boomers becoming the most sociopathic generation.
Televisions and phones are different than other models of media consumption: it's the screens.
