When I studied Orwell at uni I came across an article that indicated he really wanted to call it 1948 but his publishers recommended he didn't saying that 1948 in the title would reduce sales.

But what could we do Peggy? Well the Fed govt could establish crews to clean up rivers and beaches & employ involuntarily unemployed people. They pay them now albeit a pittance so pay them a basic wage and get rid of unemployment now.

Barry here's a curious little fact for you - I've spent the last 30 years in Aus writing and implementing quality mgmt systems. In that time I have worked with one single manager who understood how their products were made. The rest? Didn't even bother asking to understand.

Fortunately not all economists subscribe to the same paradigm, that current & faulty neoclassical paradigm.
Your taxes do not fund your govt's spending.
There are many other and more accurate economic paradigms. I suggest you broaden your reading scope.
