I think you’ll struggle with genuinely sustainable footwear. Synthetic (plastic) or a mix with leather and plastic. I opted for very high quality hand made leather boots 20 years ago, (👀 Lennon) I look after them, wear them most days and they’re still good.

Exactly. Many sites have no Swifts now. The buildings haven’t changed but there is definitely something else wiping them out. Bricks won’t fix that.

Plant trees in towns and and to provide shade and fruit. And leave land in towns to recolonise on their own too.
But away from urban areas leave land alone. Nurture it against invasive species and slow the flow of water.
And use the wood.
If nature wants trees to grow there they’ll grow.
