Real word aside, I'm sure Sony forgot they even had PS Vita in the first place

You would think that only if you've played the game, but since no one has ever had the chance to (backlog hell), researchers have had to dig to learn that there's Sands of Time influence throughout the source code.

Also have a handful of vinyl soundtracks. Added alt text for each item on the shelf. Some aren't really visible, and others have some glare

These are the angels they spoke about in the Bible I think

Next, I want to explore a more comfortable solution for shoulder buttons and triggers because I feel like I have to force myself to use both my index and middle fingers when necessary. It doesn't feel stable or comfortable leaving my pinky and ring fingers as the only support

With the rise of PC gaming handhelds, I think this is the perfect opportunity to break new ground with this. Surprised we haven't seen anyone take risks with weird controls on those things aside from Valve really
January 20, 2026 at 5:57 AM
Yeah, I think that's enough for it. Instead of thinking of it as a layout surrounding a middle button or a 6+1 layout, it's more like an ABXY layout where X is split into 4 buttons. That makes it simpler to think about while keeping the possibilities open
January 20, 2026 at 5:52 AM
But then again, the placement of the ... button may be enough to make it stand out and not get accidentally pressed if something primarily uses the other 6 inputs. I guess it also depends on hand size. May be awkward to only have one button be clickier/harder to press all the way in too hmm
January 20, 2026 at 5:45 AM
Funny how that works out haha, that would be a good branding/marketing gimmick on its own. I think N64 feel would work nicely. I'd say that's on the tappy side, but leans towards mushy a little bit. If it turned out difficult to differentiate the buttons, then maybe some shapes could be tested

I do find it awkward getting used to certain control schemes when they try to include so many inputs. I recently started PS5 Spider-Man 2, and I'm being reminded of how limiting it is using these 4-button controls. Most of the inputs are things like L1/L2+Face, R1/R2+Face, Tri+Cir, etc.

True, the biggest roadblock with the 5 button GC layout is definitely the difficulty with multiple simultaneous inputs
January 20, 2026 at 5:18 AM
Press feel as in clicky (joycon or 3DS button), tappy (pro or GC controller), mushy (PS2 or DS Lite)
January 20, 2026 at 5:17 AM
Ergonomics of .., ., and C seem nice, and the ... button with it could be useful. One of my issues with the S2 pro controller is the + button is easier to press, and I accidentally hit it quite often. How large could that face button layout theoretically be and what kind of press feel would it have?
January 20, 2026 at 5:15 AM
I'd thought about how a button layout might work adding something between the face buttons, or if there a big button like t.he GC A button with 4 XY-like buttons surrounding it, but I hadn't considered a design like that. I can see it working really well, but if the buttons feel distinct enough
January 20, 2026 at 5:11 AM
I agree on both, I think the grips are essential. N64 nailed it, especially since holding forward on the stick is easier since hand posture is more properly aligned to the center than it is when stretching from the outer edge on another controller usually. Wii Nunchuck reused the shape of that grip
January 20, 2026 at 5:08 AM
Honestly haven't even thought to try that. I'm very used to using a keyboard, but I might give that a go if I want a keyboard-heavy game from the couch
January 20, 2026 at 4:46 AM
Even the original controller's dpad holds up. Idk if it's because it's as underused as it is, but it feels more stable and responsive than even the SNES and SFC controllers I have
