The Hidden Life of Trees is a fantastic book. I only got to skim your post, but will read fully this evening. I also smiled when I saw your blog banner. If my bookshelf were organized the contents of would follow a similar theme. Though I admittedly don't know much about Franciscans.

That's just silly and rude. Even as a teenager, I knew to do a currency exchange when I was taking a day trip over to the best side of Niagara Falls. The fact that a shop owner would offer to accept USD was a courtesy not an expectation. SMH.

I'm not saying it's right. But, it's hard not to be apathetic. When there is no accountability. When congressional meetings could double as episodes of Jerry Springer...

We the people are figuring it out though. The mood and energy is shifting. And, I don't think it's too late.

Sure feels that way. But it's a problem that exists everywhere. Not just in the three-ring circus that is Washington D.C. Look in comment threads at all the victim blaming. Or where someone breaks the law on camera and the police are a-holes for not just looking the other way.
