OpSec obviously has very real importance, but the organizers in this group had clearly read a few too many guides online without necessarily grokking WHY you do any of the things they recommend. Also on a basic level, the ever-changing fake names meant you never knew who tf you were talking to lol

A mutual aid group we participated in locally (before it dissolved in a weird personal spat) required everyone in the signal chat to use fake names, change their handle weekly, and every two weeks be kicked from the channel unless you reaffirmed you wanted to stay in. We were handing out food... 🥲

Absolutely! You can just luckily now put them in any order you please and/or go as hog wild as you want trying to think of ones that apply haha

The first 5 tags thing hasn't been true in many years, FYI. All tags in the post (up to 30) show up in any general search, up to the first 20 for within-your-own-blog indexing

(If anyone is balking at not just letting nature run its course, you can say that having mangey wildlife nearby is also a huge risk for pets, even dogs that pass through the same area but especially for indoor-outdoor cats. Mange is treatable in pets, but it's gross and annoying and expensive!)

Well, that's *not* great in general, but uh. Helps with this part at least! 😅 Might need to organize a separate neighborhood hazing operation when it's nursed back to health to put its fear of people back... Oi lol.

Done, headed your way! Here's their pre-instructions, too, which start now!

They've got instructions for setting out bait ahead of actually receiving your kit further down the page (as well as important warnings about not feeding wildlife outside of this targeted purpose, lol). I'd be happy to cover the kit donation if you want!

unfortunately I just didn't really have consistent enough access, being 45 minutes north, when I saw it over where I did before lol.

Yeah, it spreads so easily among the population, and is *such* a rough way to go. If it seems to be hanging around in the area and you're interested, there's a mange-by-mail program and it's possible to treat them via bait if you can target the right individual —
