And to be clear, I agree w/ your assessment of the consequences, I just don’t think it’s productive or correct to say that all these people are somehow scheming villains. Some may be! But it’s just as likely to me that people are defending the idea of the candidate that is now, rightfully, attacked.

Commenting on this as a rando from Maine, I won’t be voting for Platner. But I think that saying all his defenders are bad faith actors is wrong and condescending. He has become very popular and people here are reeling trying to adjust. Not everything is a conspiracy.
