Do you think the framing device was added during a rewrite or something? It implies that things even out in the end and God was just fibbing to Job

Did you not read the epilogue where God doubles Job's wealth and gives him twice as many children as before (he doesn't bring back the old children, children are fungible, I'm not kidding)

(obviously Democrats will never do this unless DC gets admitted as 300 different states, they don't hate winning elections nearly enough)

I think the fear is that Democrats will outlaw real meat while lab grown meat is still uncompetitive, and once lab meat is available at the grocery store and cheaper and you can buy it in chocolate flavor if you want this particular brand of crazy will vanish

Sentient but quiet is apparently an extremely brief period of time though (n = 1). My guess is a combination of we happen to be very early + great filter (either ahead or behind us idk)

You can just look around and observe a lack of von Neumann probes or Dyson spheres! Idk if you mean bacteria or little green men but it seems clear we have to be a huge anomaly

Guy who exclusively uses "NIMBY" to refer to people who refuse to build themselves an ADU

The question is a reference to a specific proposal from his campaign website, which frames a sensible, facially race-neutral policy in a deliberately racial way. I think the framing is dumb and the question is dumb but Mamdani opened the door to it.

It's a purity / religious thing. Water is natural / sacred / uncommodifiable in a way that electricity is not

I don't think your understanding is shared by the people who are outraged about this (or, if you prefer, the characters they are inhabiting in order to perform outrage)

mfw I give my children language to facilitate communication but they don't use it that way

I don't think this is quite right. What do you think the denotation of "Globalize the intifada" was at the protest? (I am prepared to accept "it doesn't have a denotation")
November 22, 2025 at 5:44 PM
Who are the ideological moderates in this telling?

Congressional districts significantly post-dating the Constitution is admittedly pretty weird, and maybe the Apportionment Act of 1842 should've had a residency requirement

I still don't really get your angle. I agree UCSD would admit fewer people who can't do math if they had SAT scores. There is a separate issue that K12 education is terrible. This report may be anecdata, but there's (ofc) no comprehensive data on how many kids graduate HS without knowing any math.
