The fundamental design of disaster management in the US is to be Federally Supported, State Managed, and Locally Executed. I don’t think the new DHS Secretary has spent a day understanding the infrastructure before she dismantles it.

With RFK’s confirmation, I just want to remind everyone that our ability to focus on chronic diseases is a direct result of people living long enough to develop them. This is thanks to vaccines and the control of infectious diseases that have historically wiped out populations.
