The SFF workstations are cheaper because companies are looking to offload their old hardware, and those systems are what they use. Those parts may work, depending on the system you buy. A PCI-E card may work with the system if it has a PCI-E slot. An SSD can work if the machine has SATA connectors.

Pi is a great platform to start out with/tinker with. Personally, I would recommend going with an SFF workstation (off of eBay, as they're dirt cheap, cheaper than the Pi) because of how much more powerful they are compared to a Pi.

as busy as it is, they have it down to an art. being able to travel across the whole airport from one gate to another within 20 minutes is incredible compared to other airports.
