Ehhh trusting the public to be on top of these things feels like deferring responsibility. It’s not the public’s job to advocate for workers rights, it’s just nice when it happens, and it doesn’t always happen. The org is self interested because no one else has enough skin in the game to do it.

Generally what that first reply was trying to communicate is that, it’s good that they’re extending protections, but having someone to keep them accountable will preserve the protections past the goodwill of the company should the weather change one day
