i loved the writing style from the very first paragraph, and the balance of hope and melancholy that they give law is perfect to me!!

4 page one piece fancomic. page 1. panel 1: robin, law, and franky sit around a table on a pirate ship, drinking tea together. it's not apparent, but this is actually barto's ship, leaving dressrosa and heading to zou. luffy runs up, dripping wet with seaweed on his hat. he calls, "robin! robin! oh, hi, torao. robin!" and she calmly replies, "luffy." panel 2: luffy is grinning and gesturing as he says, "guess what we found!" "what?" someone asks from off-screen. luffy says, "the fish!" panel 3: law is shocked, staring at luffy with a death grip on his cup. he isn't really listening as luffy rambles, "the fish with the colors, from sanji's book! the one that's supposed to have the best flavor in a stew!" someone asks, "you found it?" panel 4: luffy is still talking, but to law, they are the only two there. he sits, with horrible posture, and looks at luffy, who seems to be glowing. luffy is saying, "we found it! zoro wanted to catch it, but usopp won't let him chop it up. it spoils the eggs or something." page 2. panel 1: a close-up of luffy from law's point of view. his smile is radiant, and there are sparkles in the air around him. luffy reaches one hand forward and says, "i don't know! torao! wanna come? you could do that room thing, it'd be useful." panel 2: with an intentionally stern expression, law grits out, "i'm having tea now." robin cheerfully reaches toward him, saying, "oh, worry not, i'll save some for you." page 3. panel 1: luffy flops his top half onto the table, hipbones against the edge. he props his chin in his hands and muses, "you know, a fish like that one ate me once. anyway, are you coming, torao?" panel 2: law is distracted again, imagining a host of smiling luffys calling his name. he has an embarrassed crook to his mouth, almost a smile. real life luffy says his name again, puzzled. panel 3: law breaks out of his imagination, tilting his head down to hide his face below the brim of his hat. he answers, "let me finish my tea, and i'll go." luffy cheers, "alright!" panel 4: luffy turns to run off again, calling back over his shoulder with a wave, "don't be long, or there will be no stew later!" panel 5: law sips from his cup, probably chugging down his tea, but he's shocked when robin says, from off-screen, "he amuses you." page 4. panel 1: franky is shooting a smug smile at robin, while law sits and grits his teeth. his expression is still hidden under his hat. panel 2: he finally says, "he amuses most everyone," face shrouded in shadow, though a slight blush is visible. panel 3: robin looks pleasantly shocked, with her eyes wide and a slight smile. panel 4: her smile grows now, and she turns away to prop her chin on her palm. panel 5: she and franky look toward where luffy ran off to. law's head is tilted down toward the table, and his fingers are laced behind his head, suffering in self-induced embarrassment and agony. robin cooly says, "if you say so." luffy's laugh can be heard from off-screen.

one page one piece fancomic. panel 1: luffy flies into the kitchen to sit at the breakfast bar. sanji is cooking at the stove, back to luffy. "sanji!" luffy says, "what's for breakfast? i'm starve—" panel 2: luffy cuts off with a loud "WHOA!" as sanji turns around. he looks extremely haggard, with dark circles under his bloodshot eye and unkempt facial hair. panel 3: luffy asks, wide-eyed, "what happened to you?" sanji serves him a plate piled comically high with pancakes and says, "couldn't sleep." panel 4: sanji turns back to his stove. he continues, "because SOMEONE was being louder than a dying sea king!" luffy peeks around him, confused, while shoving a pancake in his mouth. panel 5: luffy's cheeks are puffed full of food as he says, "oops. that was me, wasn't it." panel 6: sanji whips toward him, pointing at luffy. he snaps, "YES! yes, you and—" someone from behind luffy says, "morning." panel 7: law is standing there, looking disturbingly fresh-faced. he has no eyebags and there are sparkles in the air beside him. he says simply, "the bacon smells good." and a furious sanji shrieks, "WHO IS THIS GUY?!"

13 page lulaw fancomic. page 1. panel 1: the polar tang 2 is anchored in the ocean, a large number 2 slapped on its side to distinguish it from the late polar tang 1. panel 2: law sits in his room, reading panel 3: he turns a page in his book. panel 4: a loud alarm starts ringing, startling him. panel 5: law grabs kikoku, ready for combat, and raises his hand, saying, “room!” page 2. panel 1: law arrives in the main room of his submarine with a pop. he is immediately displeased. hakugan and ikkaku are standing there, seemingly shocked by the same thing that law sees. panel 2: penguin and uni are also frozen, still half in battle stances. panel 3: a grinning monkey d luffy gives them all a wave. he says, “traffy! hey!” panel 4: law looks flatly at him. he says, “straw—“ before cutting himself off and trying again, “luffy-ya, would it kill you to call ahead?” panel 5: luffy crowds up in law’s face, forcing him to lean away. luffy holds up a vivre card scrap labeled with bepo’s name, saying, “you gotta come with me! i’m gonna fight this big monster. it’ll be an adventure!” page 3. panel 1: law crosses his arms and looks away, insisting, “absolutely NOT. we aren’t anchored here for fun.” penguin and shachi stand suspiciously behind him as luffy groans, “aw…” from off-screen. panel 2: law continues, “i have several things…” before cutting off with an “oof” as penguin and shachi shove him forward. panel 3: they insist, “come on, captain! we can handle it!” and luffy cheers. law glares menacingly back at them, radiating a dark aura of fury. panel 4: a close up of luffy grabbing law’s wrist as he says, “let’s go!” panel 5: law looks down, a blush on his cheeks. he starts to say, “luffy-ya…” panel 6: he abruptly finishes, “what the hell is that.” as he points down at a hardly sea-worthy dinghy that luffy has poorly lashed to the tang’s railing. luffy whistles innocently. page 4. panel 1: law sits in the front of the dinghy, legs and arms crossed primly and an oar across his lap. luffy stands behind him, waving goodbye to law’s crew. panel 2: through pictograms, law asks if luffy has a map for this adventure. luffy smiles his best head empty smile and shrugs. panel 3: law asks about food for the trip, and luffy points grouchily to his mouth, indicating that he’s eaten everything he brought. panel 4: furious, law grabs luffy by the collar of his coat, and luffy leans in too, both of them yelling at each other. panel 5: they freeze, argument forgotten, as a leak springs in the bottom of the boat.
