This should be front page news. News organizations have long used Twitter to gauge sentiment. It turns out we have been manipulated. There should be a law to flag foreign accounts.

"challenge scientific orthodoxy" is such BS, mealy-mouthed, complicit language. I hate "news" that refuses to take a stand on the truth. NY Times needs to grow some balls.

It's a slow motion coup. Johnson is refusing to convene Congress and swear in elected Representatives. They are claiming powers they don't have (they have to negotiate with Dems), Texas gerrymandering, Trump calling in the troops, etc etc. The SCOTUS is using the shadow docket to allow it happen

In China, aunt or uncle is used broadly as common way to address older people. I was confused when a kid called me uncle in English before I knew that was a common thing to do.

Let's put this into terms Johnson can understand: You need 218 votes to pass a bill, right? What if you only have 215 votes? Do you shut down the government and say it's the minority's fault for not voting for your bill? No- you negotiate-- you offer them something in return for their vote.

Milei is gross, but this is a good lesson for Democrats-- let's not embrace the past and the establishment. We need to push for change. People don't want to hold on to the past. They will vote for the person promising change. We need a vision for the future, not "let's restore the old government."

There is a lesson for Democrats-- don't hold on the "establishment". We need change. The left in Argentina oversaw years of corruption and instability. In this election, they wanted their leader released from prison. This election was a rejection of the old corrupt ruling class.

Oh so NOW you need Democratic votes. But when they were passing the Big Ugly Bill they said they didn't need Dems at all. They are so close to understanding how government works, but yet so far. Here's how it works-- if you need Dem votes, then Dems get a say in the legislation.

Thank you! Republicans are trying to ignore the math in the Senate that has existed for decades-- if you don't have 60 votes, you need to negotiate. Plain and simple. You can't force Senators to vote against their will. The Republicans need to negotiate. This is still a Democracy!

Thank you Senator Kelly! Hold the line. Republicans need Democratic votes for a budget, so they MUST negotiate. They don't have 60 votes. They are acting like they control everything but they do not. They MUST compromise.

Yes! Thank you. Democrats don't have to vote for stuff they don't support. The only way you can get a budget passed is to have bi-partisan support. R's are trying to re-write the rules and pretend they have a super majority. We have to hold the line.

You need 60 Senate votes to pass the budget. Republicans only have 53. So they have to negotiate. They are pretending that they don't but they do. They are bluffing that they have more power than they do. Why would Democrats vote for a bill they have no input into? Sorry that's not how this works.

Let me state the obvious: Republicans are more and more emboldened to just lie their asses off. It works for Trump and now they are going whole hog spewing lie after lie. The press needs to fight back on these lies and confront them every single time. Often we get "both sides" and the viewers lose.

"So if someone organized for 20 busloads of people to go to the White House and protest, then sent a bunch of cops to the hospital, would you charge that person who organized those busses?" www.the-independent.com/news/world/a...

So the only way to reduce crime is to allow federal troops into our blue cities? Do they think we're stupid? There are a 100 ways to target crime that doesn't involve federal troops. Plus it's 1000% illegal.

Trump is OBVIOUSLY in the Epstein files. Multiple sources say he is, including Pam Bondi. Best friends for decades, flew on his plane, went to each other's parties. It's amazing that Trump was able to flip it and say that Democrats who were guilty, not him.

He's always been a hard right warrior in centrist clothing. He clerked for Rehnquist. He long opposed the voting rights act. He shilled for corporations. Worked for Ken Star. As chief justice he pushed Citizens United, ending Roe, etc. Looks like a boy scout but Scalia underneath
