Just wanted to show one of my color explorations in full here. Started with a section of my abstract color palette, blocked out a thumbnail focusing on value relations, then found a painting from that thumbnail.

So after I made my color palettes (see my last post) I did thumbnails mostly using a square brush. Trying to avoid details, I was mostly thinking about composition & value hierarchy.

This last year I got bored with my color choices, so I derived a method for finding new palettes based off paintings I admire. The goal in this step is to abstract color choices and find unique color relationships.
