unfortunately speaking from personal experience, even Americans who claim they care aren't protesting or doing much I camped before I graduated, but the ratio of people at the protest vs watching/harassing was very sad

I absolutely agree with this! before autism i was misdiagnosed with bpd (by a professional), and if a prof. can do it, it can be very dangerous for someone to self diagnosed anything, not just autism
