Yes this! Because scholarly training is the ability to identify *new* ideas on the rare occurrence they appear. We do that by distinguishing all the ideas that came before.
Correct attribution is the proof you know your field and are capable of identifying something new.

Similar things could be said about the research industrial complex and we just gutted that.
We don’t have to organize society around death dealing as a central concept (or discipline and punishment if you want to look at the prison industrial complex/ICE/policing).

When so many jobs have been eliminated and so many flailing systems broken now beyond repair, I think even moderates are going to say – ok let’s rebuild radically w the good stuff
