The wax doesn't totally liquefy so much as become molasses-like, so it mixes poorly, yielding streaks of pink in red instead of a uniform color.

"Sealing wax." You can get it either as candlesticks with wicks, or as beads to be melted in a cup over a tea candle. I do the latter: it's easier for me to get consistent volume, and much easier to mix colors. For example, the above is (if I remember right) three beads of burgundy and one pink.

I hope this leads to laughably complicated edge cases like when the colony is trying to establish on one side and forage on the other side of a jurisdictional line. Bee lawyers, arbitration of honey trails.
