Also the use of recurring OG series characters is interesting and IMO pretty well done! Even Quattro, who's totally original, takes a very different role in the cast from when he never appeared before.

Yes, exactly! And the rationale behind why she is so brutal makes perfect sense - she's been betrayed and used by multiple people, and she never wants to be in that position again. So she betrays and uses others to secure her power base and then crushes her enemies. At no point does she need 'evil'.
