Can anyone recommend a trusted sleepover-in-our-home pet sitter in west Auckland? Our amazing sitter has moved away and I’ve had no luck finding a regular replacement. I’ve tried Pawshake and they’re great but would prefer consistency. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🇳🇿

I’ve had that, one day on my bike I narrowly avoided a car driving down from Takau St, all along below Kingsland almost to Nixon Park, completely oblivious to cyclists shouting and waving!

I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals the past few days with a sick family member and was astonished at how few people were masked. Hospitals are FULL of sick people! And even if that ward wasn’t for that kind of sick, plenty of the visitors were coughing and sniffing. 😷

I too am married to a guy who looks like he should be the next leader of the National Party…but thankfully doesn’t share their (lack of) values!

Just to say, I read all the alt-text! Thanks for making the effort.

I was at both this march today and the March for Nature last year - this one was at least as big, if not bigger. Then again, the media downplayed the size of the crowd last time too.

One of the many benefits of our new electric double decker buses…being able to check out the thriving green roof of the bus shelter!

Even if you don't vote for your council (pls do but), tick that box for the referendum.

It is BINDING for three terms - so if it fails, no Māori ward for nearly a decade.

And EVERYONE votes, not just Māori. Tāngata Tiriti step up, Pākehā mā, you need to vote.

Excellent summary ⬇️

The average debt-to-GDP ratio in OECD countries is 85% - NZ is 47.7%. Interestingly, Singapore is 175% & the lowest debt to GDP country in the world is Afghanistan.
NZ's debt conversation has been hijacked by right wing hawks & at what cost to the country? I'd argue a lot #nzpol
I Hate Labour! But...Wait...Why?
Labour suffered heavy misinformation during and post Covid. They've done well to regain public trust.

These two, despite being litter mates, have about the same size differential. One is extremely food motivated, the other not so much.

I ain't doing your so called "strategic voting". I am voting as progressive as possible so that Te Pāti Māori and Pati Kākariki can drag Labour and have bargaining power.

Maybe we could just ask JD Vance to pop round for a visit?

In this context, they could easily WFH, if they chose not to take sick leave

When challenged about why they were in the office while clearly unwell (for their own wellbeing + sharing germs) each said ‘it’s ok, I’ve taken pseudoephadrine, I’m fine’.

I recognise the ‘soldier on’ mentality I had pre-Covid, but have we learned nothing??? It’s so easy for these guys to WFH.

An observation…I’ve just had most of the last 2 weeks away from work due to illness. I probably stopped being infectious ages ago, but stayed away due to a lingering cough and not wanting to risk sharing germs.
So when I returned yesterday, I was disappointed to experience 3 people clearly sick…

In a happy coincidence, it’s both #BlackCatAppreciaionDay and the birthday for my two favourite boys

A poster of a black cat with the caption:
Heads up mini panthers, Sunday August 17th is National Black Cat Appreciation Day. Ask for stuff!

Typical internet nonsense, and every day is black cat appreciation day in our home, but it’s a happy coincidence that it’s also their birth date. Black cat (Tui) snuggling on a dark background Black cat (Ozzy) staring at the camera with his big yellow eyes

I’m a big fan of cable cars (for scenic holiday activities, not public transport, obviously) and I was surprised to read there’s one in Whanganui. So I googled…and I would not want to be stuck in that!
