I am a psychiatrist and uses both medication and CBT to help people with anxiety. The people who seem to do best believe it will work and put a lot of effort into it. It isn't easy. CBT is usually done with a therapist in one hour sessions 1-2x a month. Severe anxiety usually also needs a med.
