Fixated on Ancient Greek literature, particularly satire. I have my grass-fed beef dealer on speed dial.
Lincoln, NE has the national quilt museum and I learned so much about history and the ways fibers play a role in things. There are also highly trained individuals whose job it is to repair quilts with the correct threads/material from correct years etc. and to preserve. Important work!

Definitely pricey, but our youngest has never been to a vet and the oldest only once when she was a pup. So it evens out IMO. Becoming friends/working for local farmers has been a godsend. Also we have a great local butcher shop, easy to get organs/other stuff people don’t want for cheap.

I also don’t think kibble is the answer. Too much processed junk and PUFAs.

We feed a variety of whole foods. Honestly it’s mainly just what we eat, but given to them raw if it’s meat/organs.

And you know what makes allergies worse? No sugar.

So it’s a cycle and it takes a long time to get back out of, as we’re experiencing with our dog. She had all the symptoms of being pre-diabetic, down to retinopathy. Happy to say we can tell that has reversed!

The state that the body goes into when starved a sugar is basically a pre-diabetic state. Thus, the itchy dry skin, the fatigue, the weight loss, etc etc.

But this fb group just continually espouses “no sugar! Sugar bad!” and asks owners to spend thousands in allergy testing & feed novel protein$

The body would prefer a steady stream of sugar coming in. Particularly simple sugars like honey, fruits, things of the like.

completely on glucose [read: sugar]. So it is willing to expend insane amounts of energy to make sugar to keep your brain functioning.

But the downside is that it wreaks havoc on other tissues and organs because the body doesn’t actually want to have to break down tissues to make sugar.

This is true, and it is called gluconeogenesis, a process where your body breaks down muscle and other tissues since glucose is so important. The other option is death.

The thing about this process though is that it’s a BACK UP system for times of famine—because the brain and nervous system runs

My dogs bark at my husband and I to hurry up and finish our cups of coffee so they lick out the remains drops, but sometimes it gets so annoying we just pour a little in their bowls 🙈
