In an ideal world, all workers should have protections, and fired workers, even gutter racists, would have universal basic income to rely upon.

Based on stories I have heard of worker rights in societies where they actually exist, she should have been placed on paid leave till management had a clear idea of what happened, then fired.

As a Texas fan I honestly would rather miss the playoff with wins over the Sooners and Aggies than get in with them as the only two losses.

It’s worse than that—any system dedicated to reaching the most in need must tolerate some number of false positives. If you make VA disability and mental health benefits too difficult to access, the suicidally depressed vets you’re trying to reach will be hedged out more effectively than scammers.

No, this shit is worse, because it often makes people who need accommodations feel guilty, like they’re cheating the system or something. It’s closer to people making you feel guilty for taking pain medication after you fracture your pelvis.
