Sadly progress is never just linear, but from what you’ve shared you can take setbacks and keep on going. I suspect this will be no different, and honestly it’s progress that you recognized the pattern to begin with.

It is hard to let go of the mechanisms you had to develop your whole life in order to survive. The behaviors are ingrained and automatic at a certain point. I hope the people who care about you understand that you’re not doing anything on purpose to hurt their feelings.
