If memory serves me correctly—gumbo translate as “okra”the plant from African nations—add Spanish creole, French Arcadian, and Gulf of Mexico (and bayous) —you get the spicy version w/roux.
Today would be chicken & okra soup.
No filé added too! I’m sure it’s very good, but not modern gumbo.

My brother’s first car. His was gold with a black vinyl roof. Eight track player was put in and I think he had a Hertz shifter?!?!
He always scared me while driving to school listening to Alice Cooper.
I did graduate by the grace of God by not allowing him to kill me driving to school. Hehe..

Son had bacterial meningitis at age 18–seriously ill. Always healthy and strong—had two hospitalizations & lost 28 lbs. in 30 days.
Returned back to finish his senior year-no sports allowed by doctors.
On the day he returned he walked by coach, said h i& coach didn’t recognize him (grades 7-12).
