Personally if I'm slapping in temp voice before we bring in the actors it's going to be me talking or robot voice and I don't have the time to record it all. So there would be no vox before alpha then, which slows editing and gives the actors a worse script and gives us no sense of timing.

That was the point I was making...

No that is the point I'm making. People are yelling about it in one context, and ignoring it in the other. Delete it all.

Yes, and Larian aren't using any in the finished product. Placeholder voice is a huge help, and doesn't take anything away from actors. I have more of a problem with autotune on finished albums.

The point is it should remain a tool you can use to increase efficiency or clean stuff up, and not replace or mimic human creativity. Larian is using it right.

Shockingly, all the cups and championships are made up. If this goes on another 20 years it will gain weight. They said the same thing about the Super Bowl when it started.

What is an Indie game in 2025, Nathan? WHAT IS IT?

Maybe the forgot to re-add the bots?
December 12, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Yah it's more than a little depressing. There are so many new games and even the audience itself turns over so fast (average time people play games is five years, and so is the average dev career weirdly) that data gets old fast.
December 12, 2025 at 9:48 PM
It's getting harder and harder. The best current way is to watch background humans who just stare in a weird way and rarely react or move.

Other indie devs and our own experiences.

Generally any wishlist over 6 months old is dead and will rarely turn into a purchase, so while it's not pointless, it can make it hared to know where you're at in terms of buzz before and around launch.

AI cleanser!

The issues are endless: reviews with incorrect facts stay up; reviews with complaints about a specific team member stay up; negative reviews just because of your publisher or franchise stay up.

Buy it and burn it. For humanity.
