Lizard science at Bangor !
lizardkmatt.bsky.social
For my PhD, I need to catch lizards to take a mouth swab to retrieve a DNA sample. In comes the lizard lasso! A fishing rod with a small lasso loop tied to the end, I sneak up on lizards as they bask and (hopefully) slip them into the lasso 🦎

CoSE PhD research in action! Congrats @microbiolucas.bsky.social on your first field sampling session!

First PhD sampling completed!

I went to sample the blackout experiment with 20-year old bare fallow plots at the Henfaes Research Farm (Bangor University)

Here, we want to study SOM/SOC and the cycling of “old persistent” carbon in the absence of new fresh plant input.
Picture of a bare fallow plot covered with a black fabric to prevent the growth of plants Picture of me removing dry grass that flew in a bare fallow plot when I opened it to do the sampling Picture of a 10 cm soil core with some interesting colour variation depending on depth
