Last month, Dr. Jonathan Lewis of our French section attended the annual conference of the Society for Francophone Postcolonial Studies. Along with Professor Sophie Fuggle from Liverpool, he co-presented a paper entitled ‘ “Apolitique et utopique”: The colonial prison island at the end of empire’.
