Every now and then, I'll read a book and there will come a magical moment. A moment when I'm making a beeline over to Goodreads, or Storygraph or wherever because...I need to know what else they've written. Because I know...without any doubts...that I will be reading everything they've written. It has happened a few times recently. B.K. Borison. Cara Bastone. Emily Henry a few years ago (Gods...I can remember when I was crying in my car at "Funny Story" in no small part because I had been sooooo wrong about her.).

I read or heard a quote about ghosts that has stuck with me for years. I've never been able to source it, but it goes something like this: I don't believe in ghosts. Ghosts aren't real. But hauntings are. Hauntings happen every day. I don't know exactly why it has stuck with me so vividly. But there's truth in that. Except...I kinda maybe do believe in ghosts? Maybe. Or at least...something. I'm a pretty rational guy. Yeah, I believe in God and some would say that disqualifies me but...believing in God is rational to me.

Every novel by Claire North (aka Kate Griffin...aka Catherine Webb) will make you think. They will stick with you. Like a residue from a cheap sticker - you'll feel it on you for days. Turning. Sitting. Sticking. I've been a fan of her's for a long time. The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August hit me like a load of bricks. I've read it three times and will probably do another read soon. And while I haven't read all of her works (yet), anything new by her is cause for celebration.
