I just find I don't. I'm not drawn to it. It's not the splendidly useful timewaster that Twitter was. I could try harder of course.

I really miss the old Twitter, for general work chat with people whose views I value and respect.

I don't really do that on Bluesky but maybe I should? Thoughts?

Is Net Zero a toxic brand? 🤔♻️

Listen back to BBC Radio 4's Rare Earth on BBC Sounds to hear from a panel of experts including our own Prof Rebecca Willis (@bankfieldbecky.bsky.social) discussing Net Zero and changing public attitudes towards climate change 🔊

had a good time chatting all things net zero on Rare Earth last week - with @drsimevans.carbonbrief.org @tomheap.bsky.social and others. All pretty upbeat...

This week's Rare Earth is just about to start on BBC Radio 4 (12-1pm, Friday 6th), available online afterwards.

We'll be talking about social reactions to weaning our society off fossil fuels - what do the public really want and is "net zero" still a helpful phrase?

Thanks Nicole for this piece (which I played a very small part in)

Civil-society-led climate assemblies keep deliberative democracy sharp. Make demands, not just recommendations. Deliberative democracy isn’t about advising power. I’s about challenging it.

Thanks for this piece @bankfieldbecky.bsky.social et al.

Very proud to be part of this work, showing a costed path to achieving climate targets - and particularly pleased that for the first time, the CCC commissioned a Citizens' Panel (ie heard from a representative sample of people) to feed in people's experience, views and values

We have published our advice on the Seventh Carbon Budget. It is in line with previous Government commitments – the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Carbon Budgets, international commitments, and the Net Zero commitment in 2050.

Interesting to see very strong cross-party support for "environmentalism" in the UK

The only exception is populist right-wing Reform supporters (who only made up 14% of voters at last election in any case)
