That, and many of their lives are so hedonistic and filled with luxury and indulgence no normal person can ever attain or even understand, they want to keep it going as long as possible. They don't believe the next stage of existence, if there even is one, will top this one.

She's right, and all the corporate bought and paid for Dems need to go, but the flag bearers for the Party in Congress not only have to have the confidence of their colleagues to lead, but they need to reflect the current Party's values.
