The Hillsborough Law is currently making its way through Parliament.

But there are those in Parliament who would like to see it watered down.

All of us who care about justice, and about making public inquiries work for everyone, must make sure that does not happen.

It would also ensure that victims of disasters and state-related deaths are entitled to equal legal representation at inquests and inquiries.

That would ensure equal access to justice for all, making inquiries more efficient and fair.

The Hillsborough Law would create a new legal duty of candour on public authorities and officials, to tell the truth and cooperate with inquiries.

That woudl help bring an end to the depressingly familiar pattern of cover-ups and concealment which delay justice.

Now that the Inquiry has spoken, there must be accountability.

While our focus will always be on learning lessons to save lives in the future, individual accountability must be part of delivering justice.

He must be held accountable. We are not asking for an apology; we are asking for consequences.

Boris Johnson should have no role in public life and no further entitlement to public funds.

After 5 years of fighting, in 4 days bereaved families should finally have answers to some of our most pressing questions.

We expect the Inquiry to be unflinching and clear in its conclusions.

Those we lost deserve no less.

Why did the Government ignore SAGE’s recommendation for a circuit breaker on 21st September 2020 and instead adopt a tier system without seeking advice from SAGE or anyone else?
