Surgery happens if there is a large injury or if it won’t heal. Surgery removes part of the lung and/or roughs up the inside of the chest to cause the lung to stick to the chest wall. This is super uncommon, more often needed in people that have blebs that rupture, not traumatic injury to the lung.

Pneumothorax, or partially collapsed lung, is managed with a chest tube or pigtail. This is not surgery, it is left in place for a variable amount of time, and people stay in the hospital while it’s in. People do seem to confuse “surgery” with bedside procedures, such as a chest tube.

These needles are tiny (in diameter). To hit lung tissue, it has to pass through the ribs in a person with thicker muscle and than most. Odds of hitting the lung are very low to begin with, and the likelihood that a needle of that size causes something that needs surgery… about zero.

Why you more concerned about the return of dead bodies, and why do you not at least report that the agreement has decided the value of a dead Israeli is worth 15 Palestinians? This isn’t fair and balanced reporting, this is a Western bias that continues to present Palestinians as lesser people.
