The Kelp Forest "roots" cling onto N. Calif sea coast rocks, but as the ocean has warmed,(Heat Blobs) the Kelp die & Sea Anemone have taken over.

1960s, I dove in the ecosystems off the N Calif coast. We spear fished. Otter would intimidate & try to knock fish out of our hands. We camped out feasting on Abalone.
Sadly this lovely ecosystem is crashing. See next pic ->

A lovely set of Kelp Forest pics & edu story.
1960s, I dove in the ecosystems off the N Calif coast. We spear fished. Otter would intimidate & try to knock fish out of our hands. We camped out feasting on Abalone.

As a teen I swam off N calif coast with Sea Otters in the Kelp Forests.
They are now repopulating the Ecosystem eating Sea Urchins which had been killing the Kelp Forests.
Th balance seems to be returning.
