Officer Stephen LaPorta of the Uxbridge Police Department was killed in the line of duty while assisting a motorist early this morning in icy conditions on Route 146. This is a tragic reminder that law enforcement officers put themselves at risk every day to protect their communities.

On the first day of Hanukkah, we woke to news of another mass shooting at a Hanukkah event in Australia. Yesterday in Rhode Island two people were killed, at least eight more wounded and countless others traumatized at a shooting at Brown. We can do better.

Barnstable County Sheriff's officers had a joyful day participating in the Police Athletic League of Cape Cod Inc.'s Shop with a Cop at the Falmouth Walmart with the Mashpee Police Department and the Falmouth Police Department. We are grateful for the opportunity to build positive relationships!
