I always question whether Nick really believes in what he says and the positions he takes or whether he's just appeasing his base and staying on the payroll of the right wing papers. He described himself as a 'reluctant Brexiteer' after the referendum, expressing regret but has doubled down since.

Americans have stood by and turned a blind eye to Trump's kowtowing to Putin. Is there a world where Trump completely flips and supplies weapons to Russia? Would they stand by and let him do this? They were warned about his deceit, corruption and incompetence but voted for him twice after all.

It's not about promising to rejoin as that's a timetable and process that they don't control. But, they could campaign on a second referendum promise, putting the message of reversing the mess of Brexit and politically castrating Farage with it. With that campaign you could expose them all.
