I read it and my takeaway (perhaps flawed) was that legislative Democrats should continue adding reopening demands that extend the current shutdown. I take it now that we are in more agreement.

Meredith, I agree the Executive has grossly abused its power. The Judiciary and Legislature have wrongly allowed it to continue. Senate Democrats should not have caved this spring.

However, a permanent gov. shutdown would have fatal consequences. Chicago remembers the 793-day Illinois impasse.
