Despite Sudan being described by the UN as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, the response remains drastically underfunded. As of late 2025, the UN’s Sudan appeal was just 27 percent funded, largely affected by US funding cuts under the Trump administration. Brown, however, insisted Sudan remains a top UN priority, pointing to repeated high-level visits by senior officials since she took up her post in September. Still, she said she struggled to convey the scale of suffering. “Horrendous, shocking, appalling are the words that come to mind,” she said. “It’s really difficult to convey the pain, the trauma, the fear, the suffering caused by this war.”

Over the same period, police community officer (PCSO) numbers were cut from 16,376 to 10,551 – a decline of 36%. The government claimed that there was no link between cutting police numbers and rising crime, but they were wrong.

Prison Service statement: "We continually assess prisoners’ wellbeing and will always take the appropriate action, including taking prisoners to hospital if they are assessed as needing treatment by a medical professional. “His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service has assured ministers that all cases of prisoner food refusal are being managed in accordance with the relevant policy and with appropriate medical assessment and support, consistent with prisoner rights.” Palestine Action-affiliated hunger strikers are likely to die without David Lammy's intervention, lawyers representing the prisoners have said as they criticised the Justice Secretary for refusing to meet them. Solicitors wrote to Lammy last Wednesday to request an urgent meeting before their clients` health deteriorates "beyond any possible recovery". But a subsequent letter sent on Tuesday said that his reply, received on Monday, "does not directly address our request". Two of those refusing food are on day 45 of their protest - one day less than Martin Hurson did before becoming the sixth of 10 IRA hunger strikers to die in 1982 - and another is on day 44. The latest letter says that Qesser Zuhrah, who has been refusing food since 2 November, experienced her legs shaking uncontrollably a few nights ago, collapsed onto the floor for hours and went in and out of consciousness. Zuhrah, who is being held at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey awaiting trial, was sick in an ambulance which was called only after an entire night of her begging to be taken to the hospital. "Given the context of our clients' rapidly deteriorating health and the increasing likelihood that they might die as a result of this strike, this is highly concerning,' the letter from Imran Khan & Partners, seen by the Guardian, says. "Their commitment to this cause of action means that their death is increasingly more than a mere possibility. It is a likelihood, particularly if the situation remains unresolved. The demands of the prisoners - who will have have been in prison for more than a year before they are tried - include immediate bail, ending the ban on Palestine Action and stopping restrictions on their communications. They allege mail, calls and visits have been restricted on spurious grounds or without explanation legal mail has been opened unlawfully, access to books has been blocked, inmates have been taken off or banned from prison jobs for "security reasons" and non-association orders have been implemented between their clients. A lack of or late medical observations or treatment since the hunger strike began is also alleged in some cases.

The first page archived by the Internet Archive for that website Another sign the site is bogus is the fact that every time the page is reloaded the thumbnail images for the stories in the sidebar randomly change (and the images don't even appear to be related to the headlines): The same name was reported by Time, The New York Post, Fox News and The Jerusalem Post, among others. A search for the name "Edward Crabtree" in combination with "Bondi" on Google News only brought up fact checks, stories mentioning Ahmed al Ahmed and one story from The Verge saying Grok, the AI bot on X, was falsely naming "Edward Crabtree" as the person in the viral video of the disarming.

For some reason, this reminds me of the racist riots in the UK, Summer 2024. Out of those charged, more than 40% had previously been reported for domestic abuse. (Who knows how many had not had their crimes reported.)

In total, 899 people were arrested for disorder across 27 towns and cities last summer. Acts of vandalism and the destruction of public property were reported nationwide. Meanwhile, some rioters attempted to burn down a hotel housing asylum seekers in Rotherham. From that entire cohort, 41% of all suspects detained during the civil unrest have all been reported to the authorities for domestic abuse, with charges ranging from stalking to actual bodily harm.

Hi Sherry, this article may well be accurate, but just letting you know that in the UK the Daily Heil is known for its extreme Right Wing bias and lies printed about immigrants. It also seems biased towards Farage (our version of Trump).

Wessely (known for psychologising Gulf War Syndrome, ME, harming those patients -including stopping payments and causing harmful treatments- and trans kids) has already devalued diagnoses of neurodivergent conditions. He wrote with disdain about ADHD in The Lancet 2008.

What remains unknown is the con- sequence of these shifting boundaries and new labels. I recently saw the child of prosperous parents, who was a problem at home and school. By the age of 13 years he had eight diagnoses and nine mental health professionals involved in his care and education. His family doctor, however, felt that the real problem was that the boy was lucky if he saw his parents for more than 1 hour each week, and was sceptical that throwing therapists, diagnoses, and stimulant medication at him was going to help. How will children like this grow up? And what does it mean to think that your behaviour is not your own responsibility, but is because of your brain being wired differently than the rest of your class? Might these children come to believe that they are indeed different-set apart and endlessly in need of support and treatment even as they enter adulthood? -----‐‐--------------------- Pathologising shyness, eccentricity, or sadness does few any favours-neither those who receive unhelpful labels, nor those with major mental disorders who need all the resources and research we can muster.
