An absolute delight to see this for the first time in Ghent MSK.

Maybe I'm late to the party, but why does this never feature in any book history/print culture work!

Any #skystorians know where I could find a list of known early-eighteenth century London coffeehouses? Would help with deciphering some fiendish paleography and compiling a thesis appendix!

So, just to reiterate: PLEASE REGULATE THE USE OF EXTERNAL CONSULTANCIES, Government.

We all had a good laugh today, but it wasn't worth the millions this will have cost in tuition fee money going to some consultancy that is about to do exactly the same two towns over.

Self-inflicted embarrassment for the University of Warwick — first it rebrands hyper-generically, then someone totally unhinged decides the *front page of the uni website* should say ‘Learn more about our Brand’.

A fringe group of bigoted weirdos have dragged British media, government, and law into their hateful obsession with trans people. Grim, depressing, and dangerous. Everyone with power in the UK who's played along should be ashamed of themselves.

Tough writing day trying to cram the Treaty of Utrecht into a single chapter, but very happy to have passed over the 40,000 word threshold!

Being on the committee for @nemn-network.bsky.social has been a real highlight of my postgraduate experience: can't recommend enough for anyone who wants to be a part of a sociable and fast-growing community of young early modern scholars!

We are thrilled to be opening up applications to join the Northern Early Modern Network Committee. The Northern Early Modern Network was originally established to provide a regional network for early modern scholars in Scotland and the north of England. Since its creation, the scope of the NEMN has been extended and includes members from around the world. We help to facilitate connections between postgraduate research students and early career researchers across the United Kingdom and beyond and to provide a hub of information about events, conferences, and resources relevant to early modernists. The Committee consists of an interdisciplinary group of postgraduate researchers from institutions across the UK interested in fostering a collaborative academic community of postgraduate and early career researchers specialising in the Early Modern period. We have previously planned the highly successful NEMN Conference, several series of virtual workshops and training sessions, as well as maintained our website, blog, and newsletter.
As we look towards the future, we are seeking dynamic, dedicated, and passionate researchers to join our team and collaborate with the current committee to develop and expand the Network. We welcome applications from postgraduate (taught or research based) and ECRs based in the UK for any of our current positions or several potential new roles. We are especially keen to hear from applicants interested in pursuing new opportunities and ideas for the Network, and are open to adjusting or creating new roles to match applicants interests and expertise.
If you are interested in joining the committee, please fill out the following application, attaching a brief Bio/Academic CV, an expression of interest and potential ideas for the Network, and what roles you wish to be considered for. We ask that all applications be submitted by 31 January 2025. If you have any questions, please contact the committee via email at northernearlymodern@gmail.com.
