English teacher, reader of sff and romance, perhaps slightly too fascinated by Eurovision. I need one more tattoo.
Darn I misread the tiny screen. Well I want Becoming Whale.

I'm curious about "Becoming Whale: A Memoir." Since it doesn't exist yet I'm already writing this book in my head.

I'm not even a writer but it has often been helpful to be able to say to my students, "If money moves TOWARD the writer, it's an opportunity. If money moves AWAY from the writer, it's a scam. Which way is the money moving in the offer you are telling me about?"

Oh, I'd like to read your book.

You and the Post helped me find a lot of books I loved. Thank you for your work.

I'm adding this to my to read list before I even look to see what it's about. I trust you.

I was worried about "welcoming" too, until I went to a singing where I saw the most visibly conservative man in the world share his tunebook with a young trans woman with no visible discomfort. There really does seem to be an ethic of "we're all just trying to keep this music alive."

Literally you can come sing Sacred Harp with us this weekend. Depending on where you live and how far you are willing to drive.

I think that the plan is, arrest immigrants, put them in concentration camps, and rent them to farmers as slave labor.

I disagree strongly with the basic assumption here - that there are good uses of AI in education.

My rating system is:
5= I loved this book
Mark it 'read' but leave it unrated = I didn't love this book.
1 = This book is morally offensive.

Who am I to give any book a 3? This author wrote a whole-ass book. That's a lot more than I did.

Of course! But you would have had my click in one word.
July 2, 2025 at 5:25 PM
I honestly can't figure out what the other four words are.

I hope the big ass dog is okay.

I followed you from Twitter, where I enjoyed your taunting in the Sad Puppies era. But I think it's good that we've both moved on from taunting. Also I like your books, especially the funny ones.

May he remember your name some day when he is in a better position to buy something from you.
June 11, 2025 at 5:24 PM
I think Chuck Tingle would want you to.

I am prepared to preorder this book with no further information.

I keep thinking about how much pain he must have been in.

Is the new Murderbot show going to be good?
May 9, 2025 at 4:28 PM
It's okay I have five pre-ordered now. I'll happily go back and add the visual novel, just say the word.
May 4, 2025 at 11:19 PM
Four?! But I only have one preordered! Hang on I need to look something up...

I would travel to see one of teams play. Can he name some? Ideally enough that I can pinpoint the all-trans sports team closest to me

One shelter in my area charges "extra" for "premium cats," and would you believe it, every single stray cat in the country turns out to be a purebred. No hard feelings shelter, I'm enjoying my "Maine Coon" a lot.

If you didn't know that you might not know that they are constantly changing. Wait three hours and go back in and it's a whole new set of books. You could easily spend your whole conference in there and come home having learned nothing but with a complete classroom library of ARCs.
