When I was a kid, we didn't have assist mode. But we still had cheat codes. And mods and console commands and GameShark. All sorts of stuff that helped little kid me with his little kid motor skills game. It didn't "ruin" gaming for me, I loved it more than ever. I challenged myself more and more.
