I don't play video games as a hobby, or really at all. But I do criticize the shit out of books for spelling, grammar, and audiobook *voice actors* for their narration skills, or lack of. 🤣

I'm really fond of the phrase/expression "How you do anything is how you do everything."

I kept watching Baumgartner Restoration videos on YouTube and he'd talk about how and why he'd tidy up the backs of canvases, even if nobody would ever see it. And I wanted our wiki to reflect the amount of work we were putting into it. I wanted it to look like a professional

Ultimately though, it boiled down to a whole lot of "right place, at the right time".

When we went indie, there was this stupid bug with the visual editor that prevented us from using it. Upon seeing how messy our source pages were, we spent YEARS cleaning them up. November 2020 to early 2024 of

100% relatable. I'm an admin (for several reasons) because I was in the right place at the right time. The wiki was being ported to its new host on Gamepedia, I'd wanted to be a wiki editor for years, I'd wanted to clean up the wiki for years, and I have a seasonal job mowing lawns, it was November.

I didn't even consider that "It's ineffective." would be misleading. Which is extra dumb, as we spend quite a lot of time on the Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki thinking about how we word things to avoid confusion or being misleading or conflicts.

I was playing Pokémon GO a few days ago. In a battle it said "Not very effective." and I thought "Nob translated that 30 years ago, and they're still using his wording."

They could have updated it to say "It's ineffective." Or "It isn't very effective."
