Jim Ryan is a fantastic leader for the University of Virginia and I am incredibly saddened that he would be forced out.

This is not good for the University, its students, or the nation.

Unqualified.
Unsuitable.
Wrong guy.

He impacted an entire generation of Army senior leaders with a senseless promotion hold. When he lifted it ALL were promoted.

Memorial Day isn’t about the start of summer or an extra day off. It’s not to thank veterans for their service. It’s about remembering the fallen.

COL John McHugh
CPL James Miller

They all made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

When the gas price plummeted during the pandemic it wasn't a win for the administration. It was because the economy shut down overnight.

Gas prices falling now isn't a win either. It's not supply increases. It's demand destruction.

If tariffs are paid by the foreign country, why would it be a hostile act to enumerate that tariff for consumers?

My garage door broke a spring yesterday.

Lowes had one left but I got the part I needed. $28 for a pair of steel springs.

Made in China. Only option on the shelf and I doubt they are made here anymore. Price going up soon. Fortunate it broke while the parts were still available.

Does anyone find it odd that the formula used to calculate reciprocal tariffs didn’t have a variable for tariffs?

I used to remind people that economic policies take a while to ripple through the economy. Inflation early in one administration grows from the seeds planted in the previous.

What's happening now is entirely the result of the incoming administration. It didn't have to be this way.

I've been around long enough to see major market corrections.

I've never seen one that was so closely correlated to Presidential actions.

I wonder what a full quarter that has been shaped by Elon's political involvement will look like.

You can't alienate the core of your customer base and expect conservatives that have been told for years that electric cars are dumb to buy enough of them to offset it.

I have a really simple rule for thinking about tax changes.

If it raises taxes on my kids just starting out and cuts taxes for me, I can't support it.

@profgalloway.com speaks with incredible clarity on how the tax code and benefits programs disproportionately benefit the old and wealthy.
South Carolina's flat tax proposal would initially raise rates for most
In the battle between states to have the lowest and most attractive tax policies, South Carolina Republicans are making an interesting gambit.

"penalize Canada for the sale, into our Country, of large amounts of Fentanyl, by Tariffing the value of this horrible and deadly drug in order to make it more costly to distribute and buy."

This is the latest rationale for the tariffs on Canada.

Does this ring true to anyone?

Don’t be distracted on this.

It’s bad but the issue isn’t a reporter on a group chat.

It’s using a Signal group for sensitive, official, and arguably classified communications.

Making it about the reporter or even how he got on there misses the point.

DOD is requiring industry partners that handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) to establish meaningful cyber security controls on networks and devices that handle that data.

If a vendor transmitted CUI using Signal, they could be prosecuted under the false claims act.
March 26, 2025 at 11:33 AM
It is not a political statement to say that classified information deserves protection.

It is completely mind boggling that any responsible cleared individual would knowingly transmit classified information on an app like Signal.

Being in favor of due process doesn't mean you have taken the side of the criminals.

It means you believe in our constitution and the rule of law.

Inflation has gone back up towards 3%.

Tariffs will raise prices on imported goods and services and put upward price pressure on domestic goods that have less foreign competition.

Now the President wants the Fed to lower interest rates. Lower interest rates stimulate - more inflation pressure.

5 CFR Part 2635 outlines the standards of ethical conduct for employees of the executive branch.

The basic rule is that you can't use your official position for personal gain or to promote private interests.

It is very clear that would include endorsing a particular product, company, or stock.

Is it intellectually consistent to express concern over the growing debt and deficit, while at the same time advocating for tax policy and cuts to the IRS that would make that deficit and debt larger?

I know on the surface those two things seem contradictory but somehow people continue to do both.
March 17, 2025 at 4:54 PM
If the economy slides into a recession and the Fed cuts interest rates, that isn't a huge win for the Executive branch.
