My knee jerk reaction to this is "fuck em, if ppl won't take the time to understand my situation I don't need them". That is a real direction that people who don't know how to process those feelings go. But that's not productive, its pointlessly defensive and doesn't address the root of the problem

I'm kinda coming off like "boo hoo white boy experiences his first sad moment what will he do", but theres some truth to that. I'll be real, I don't personally face issues like racism, sexism, etc. This isnt a feeling I've had to spend much time sitting with and Im trying to use this moment to grow

Yeah 100%. My knee jerk reaction is to think "I can't wait till we can go back to the way things were", and while that would still be a hell of an improvement, there is clearly still a lot of work to do. So much awful shit on display has been brewing for a long time
