Prof Walter Leitner argues that green chemistry can show the way for sustainability. Slide showing two quotes: Max Planck: "Insight must precede application." Jane Goodall: "What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."

#SummerShowcase2025: Prof Stephen Doliente focuses on the 'how', providing concrete tools and evidence for #netzero industries through industrial ecology. His work on #criticalminerals recycling and material-energy systems shows that good planning makes the #energy transition achievable.
Dr Stephen Doliente presents his work on rebranding sustainable systems and exploring the material world and green growth. A slide that describes Stephen's research vision: To provide tools, skills and evidence of net zero industries compatible with the economy, societies and environment, through industrial ecology-inspired chemical and systems engineering.

#SummerShowcase2025: Prof Cristina García Fontán ( @udc.gal ) proves that climate resilience isn't just about tech. It's about BEAUTY, community, and local solutions! Her people-environment research bridges citizens, experts, business & institutions to create landscapes that work for everyone.
Prof Cristina Garcia Fontan presents her work on climate resilient landscapes. A slide on the New European Bauhaus initiative.

#SummerShowcase2025: Dr Sam Hampton (@samhampton.bsky.social) reveals that MORE people care about #climatechange than we think. The key to breaking climate silence? Meeting people where they are, and grassroots communities like NCT, WI & the Green Salon Collective are already leading the way.
Dr Sam Hampton presents his research on public and business engagement for climate action PPT slide showing that behaviour and lifestyle change is widely supported.

#SummerShowcase: Dr Jon Husband (@jonhusband.bsky.social) shows how #chemists can make #plastics more sustainable rather than replacing them entirely - reducing greenhouse gas emissions through better materials and recycling solutions for items like polystyrene and disposable gloves.
Dr Jon Husband presents his research on low temperature depolymerisation of consumer viny plastics.
