XLink Revived, the XLink Kai revival project for XBMC, is one step closer to release! I've integrated a ton of flexibility for skin authors to incorporate every aspect of XLink Revived into their XBMC skins super easily, as demonstrated here with the new "XLink Revived" section of cortanaOS. #xbmc

15 minutes in front of a well-configured RetroPie setup on a CRT will have you forgetting you're even playing on an emulator until you remember that you have QoL things like savestates and fast forwarding. we live in a fantastic time for emulation.
the older i get the less i seem to be a purist about emulation. i still think things like accurate controllers and latency are important but like. i prefer my miyoo mini+ over my dmg gameboy, and my raspberry pi 3A serves all my PS1 and below needs when connected to my CRT and looks real good, so...

15 minutes in front of a well-configured RetroPie setup on a CRT will have you forgetting you're even playing on an emulator until you remember that you have QoL things like savestates and fast forwarding. we live in a fantastic time for emulation.

man. the analogue 3d not having composite/component out is actually such a bummer. the thing i love about the superstation one is that it has hdmi and composite so it can function as a "true" modern Playstation without losing any functionality, losing analog video is a pretty big feature imo.

i propose a new form of freeware called "beeware". it's very similar to the concept of freeware, except by launching the software you also become legally responsible somewhere between a few dozen to a couple of thousands bees.

if you want to experience the "these games were clearly not designed for LCDs" problem in action, play something like Parappa the Rapper / Um Jammer Lammy (the PSX versions not the PSP ones) or PSX DDR, they rely on near-pixel-perfect accuracy that you can't get with the average LCDs latency
like i legit realized the biggest reason i hated NES/SNES/PSX or other CRT-based console emulation was the combination of added input latency on LCDs that can't truly be mitigated, and the fact that pixel art of that era looks terrible on modern displays. a CRT immediately fixes all of that. :)
honestly i'm a huge fan of FPGA consoles, the older i get the less "purist" i become about emulation, since these days projects like FPGAs, new retro handhelds, or even an RPi connected to a CRT with the right controllers gets the average user like, 95-99% of the way towards a "pure" experience.
